Aegir

Aegir or Hler is the giant of the see or more precisely the personification of the see. In contrary to his wife Ran he is the symbol for the gentle side of the ocean, even though he can be harsh if he wants to. Together they got nine children called daughters of Aegir, which can be seen as a metaphor for the waves. Despite he is a giant, he has a well-meaning for the gods and he owns a hall, where they sit together sometimes for feast and celebration and where Lokis punishment has its onset.
