Surtur

Surtur is the personification of fire; but only in relation to its negative connotations. The safety of a heated house with a comfortable fireplace is the opposite of what Surtur stands for. He is more like a wildfire and represents its powers of destruction. Erupting volcanoes, floating lava and burning forests are his business and wherever he walks, his steps bring misery and death. He is a habitant of the south and the ruler of Muspellsheim. This is the origin of the other name by which he is known: Muspell. One day he will lead his deadly offspring, the burning horde of fire giants, to the last battel. Asgard and Midgard will fall under the devastating march of Muspell’s sons. Freyr will be the one foe who challenges him to combat, and they will eliminate each other after a long, hard fight.
