Midgard
Midgard is the human world and is connected to Asgard, the land of gods, by the rainbow bridge Bifröst. Only the gods have the privilege of using the bridge to travel between the two worlds; it’s inaccessible to humans. Midgard is enclosed by high mountains and the sea which provide natural fortifications against the giants. Jörmungand is the most famous inhabitant of the sea and a child of Loki. Sometimes, the giants try to invade Midgard to attack the humans, but Thor, their protector, stands beside them and sends the giants back to their own worlds with his magical hammer Mjöllnir. Lots of gods visits Midgard in various guises. Some are helpful, others kill and cause devastation, and in some cases, they impregnate women to produce strong offspring whom they can later recruit for the final battle in Ragnarök.
