Loki

Loki is the son of the giants Farbauti and Laufey. A long time ago, when they were young companions in some thrilling adventures, he and Wodan mixed their blood in a ritual to become blood brothers. So, Loki is a giant and an Aesir as well. He never broke with his old kin; for example, he has three children with Angrboda called Fenrir, Midgard Serpent and Hel. Along with Surtur these descendants are the arch enemies of the gods. Loki lives in Asgard, and he is married to Signy, an Aesir. Vali, Nari and Narfi are their sons. Wodan’s blood brother is the god of treachery and discord. He causes quarrel between gods and humans but helps the Aesir in precarious situations as a whisperer and factotum. He represents uncertainty, teetering on the edge, the double-edged sword, and to trust him is always to walk a fine line. This is the reason why he is the personification of fire. On the one hand, it offers warmth, while on the other hand, it is always one step away from growing into destruction. Despite his work for the gods, in the end, he will offend them in his famous public skit. Therefore, and for Balder’s death, he will be chained to the wall of a cave and the poison from a snake will be dropped slowly but continuously into his eyes. Prior to the Ragnarok changing the world, he will free himself and join the giants in their fight against gods and humans. In the end, Loki will be felled by Heimdall's hand, just as Heimdall will be felled by Loki’s.
